filter media

Ok so.in the process of.cycling my 150g aquarium I.took 3/4 of the gravel.from my 10 gallon and placed it it two trays between floss in my filter. I was just curious, would it be in any way useful left there, or.should I remove it once cycled and replace it with tje.traditional media?

it can't hurt leaving it there but I would switch it out to media, something like sponge, bio rings or floss that has a lot more surface area to build BB on
