Hi everyone,
In short, I have 10 cherry barbs in 20 gallon tank. Male to female ratio 4 x 6.
I have them for 3 weeks only and they were very tiny when bought. Just yesterday, I removed a rather big stump of bogwood to add some java moss on it (it has gorgeous crevases underneath). After putting it back in, one male barb decided to "claim the throne" and is now chasing everyone away of it. The other three males got a corner each too. So now all the males stay in their "zones" and females swim at the top level of the tank since whenever they go to bottom they are getting harrassed by males. A few females have eggs too.

Is it A) due to breeding rights
B) plain teritorial
C) some sort of pecking order establishment

And does it last forever or they get over it? Should I let them sort it out themselves? Or should "a God's hand from the sky" remove the piece of bogwood lol.
I will try to attach pictures.

That's the crime scene and the suspects :ermm:
