Why Cichlids? I'm not sure your level of experience, so i want to make sure you realize that Kribensis are great community fish. They are one of my favorites, so I think you will enjoy them.

I would consider: Severums, Rosey Barbs, Rainbowfish, Danios, Acara, Jurapari, Gold Barbs, Cory Cats, Upside Down Catfish, and virtually any fish you want which is not bite-size.

Ideally: 2 Kribensis, 5 Rosey Barbs, 1 Severum, 1 Jurapari, 1 Upside Down Catfish, & 3 Cory Cats. Buy the Jurapari small.

I'm jealous! Good luck!

NO offense but severums get 10inches long.

I know that kribs are good communtiy fish but i adore cichlids instead of most community fish. I have 3 little fishes in my rating too LOL

Acaras are 8 inches maybe as little big

Would a Krib bother a pleco.

No doubt an Acara, a Jurapari, or a Severum would eventually enjoy more space than you have to offer, especially if you settle on the 20gallon. I would suggest you go for the 29, and buy them anyway. A 29 will allow plenty of room for growth, and could easily support them for an entire lifetime if you only have 1 or 2 of these larger fish. Plus, I have always believed temperment is more important than size, and have never had difficulty keeping a single Severum as a "centerpiece" to a 29 gallon tank. Plus, a 10 inch Severum would be the exception, not the rule. By the time your fish grow that large, you will have graduated to a bigger tank!

As to the Common Pleco, I don't keep them and never suggest them. They belong in ponds. Talk about a fish which gets big!!!! You would be fine to add a Bristlenose Pleco with your Kribs.

I meant a chocolate or clown pleco they only get 5 and 6 inches long.

My budget will not allow me to under any cicumstnaces purchase anything larger than a 29 gallon at the current time.

would the kribs bother live plants?

from what I've read on this site, they will get territorial, but just give them a cave and they should be happy. As for some tankmates, what about a school of rainbowfish or giant danios?

I got a question rubysoho, how do three female siamese fighting fish get along together in a tank?

Will they bother a pleco if he tries to go into the rock sculpture they spawn in?

I don't know, never kept any. I would guess that 3 femals would bicker between themselves, but leave other fish alone. Now, if you had a male in there, this could change the situation. Maybe someone with more knowledge on these fish will come by.

2 asian catfish

3 female bettas.

Bettas are siamese fighting fish right.

Do kribs shred plants?

oh, sorry, haha, I wasn't thinking, I am so used to hearing them called bettas that I forget they are siamese fighting fish. My females do GREAT together, they almost act like sisters. I added them one at a time, a few weeks to two months apart. Each one that was added was much smaller than the established fish. The reason why I am telling you this is because I have heard of people having problems with female bettas, and keeping more than one in a tank. These three were very polite in a 5 gallon tank before they got to own the 55 gallon (and yes, they parade in it as if they owned it!). Anyway, I think adding a smaller female each time helped establish a pecking order right away. The three girls I have were all unwanted. They sat on the rack at wally world for two weeks each, so I decided to buy them before they were flushed. It is so cute, the smallest one will follow the oldest/largest, almost as if she were a baby. Very cute, lots of personality, and plenty of color (all of them looked like crap when I found them, brownish or grey...now they are reds and pinks!).

Hmm... I think 6 might be a little much. I felt bad about three being in my 5 gallon but it was okay because two aren't fully grown and I knew they'd be moved soon (the only reason they were in the 5 gallon was because my male betta started beating up on my african dwarf frogs, the girls were much nicer). They should each get to about 2 1/2 inches, so 4 or 5 would be nice in your tank, and they will still have enough swimming room. I just think 6 is pushing your limits.

*edit* oh, and I don't know if the kribs will shred plants. You can always try a few live plants at first, and if they don't work, move them over to your 10 gallon with the bettas. My girls love hanging out around the plants in their tank.

I have no experience with breeding kribs, but from what I've heard, he'd be chased if not hurt. You may want to invest in a tank didvider.

I think the pleco will learn to leave them alone. I highly doubt any creature would continue to place themselves in a situation where they'd become seriously hurt. The pleco would like hiding spots as well so keep multiple places where all the fish can hide. Plants and other objects in the tank will help with this. Also, your pleco will need to be supplemented with algea waffers (just in case you didn't already know this). Make sure you research what type of pleco you want because many of them get VERY VERY big, like 15 inches or more. Right now there is one at my LFS that is almost two feet!!!

Plants will not be damaged by this, as the Kribensis is not a vigorous and messy digger, nor will it eat or tear up plants
