Hardy fish

Anyone have any advice for some hardy fish i could put in a 5.5 gallon tank??

Well, you can't go with a school of anything because it's too small of a tank.

I agree that a betta would work.

Maybe you can make it a shrimp tank. Or snails?

Betta, dwarf puffer, shrimp, mystery snails....those are about your options for a tank that size. Maybe a small school of nano fish--I don't remember if 5.5 or a bit bigger is the recommended size for them, though.
