Heater Help

Hey everyone, well i just picked up 2 free heaters from a buddy. one is a Proquatics Hydromatic 50 watt heater and the other is a visi-therm 25 watt heater. my question is, will the 50 watt work for my 55 gal freshwater tank? if not can i combine both of them to heat it?

you could combine them but it's not likely to be enough. It just depends on how much it has to heat up the water. I have 100w jager heaters in 40g tanks and it'll get them to the low 80s but no higher.

If left alone the water sits at about 70-72. I want it to stay at a constant 76-78

I shoot for 4-5 watts per gallon as rule, especially with our climate.
