Help! So confused about cycling process!

I bought a 37 gallon Top Fin starter kit and filled it full of fish without knowing about the cycling process (stupid, right?). Well, now that I am aware of the cycling process, I only have about 6 fish. They are guppies, platies, a molly, and a zebra danio. This tank has been set up for about 4 or 5 weeks now. Am I supposed to be doing something extra for it to cycle? Today, I tested it for ammonia and nitrite and nitrate. The ammonia was really close to zero but the nitrites were at 3 ppm. How much longer and what should I be doing?!

You need to be doing water changes to keep nitrite and ammonia as low as possible.

+ 1 on water changes and it shouldn't take much longer. Just stay on those water changes like white on rice
