How long can good bacteria survive outside of water?

I知 a college student and I live 2 hours and 30 minutes from my college. I stay in the dorm and want to keep an aquarium. I知 wondering if the good bacteria could survive the trip for when I have to go home or if I have to keep the decorations and stuff in a bag of water or something.

Just keep your filter media wet and open to the air, will by fine weeks and months later.

Yes. It'll survive a long time as long as it doesn't dry out
