Fluval says that too much light causes green algae and too little light causes brown algae. They recommend ten hours of light per day. Yet I read in this forum something very different.

How long do you keep you light on?

the tank is 104 gallons with African Cichlids.

I keep my lights on for 13 hours. I did have a BBA and hair algae problem but that was in the early days. Now the plants have outgrown the algae and I have none. Someone on here did describe my tank as a jungle (in a good way) ?

8 hours. One fixture (Finnex FugeRay) runs 6 hours and the second one (Finnex Planted+) for 5 hours with an overlap of 3 hours.

I have cheap lights on most tanks so anywhere from 10 to 13 hours.

I grow medium light plants in what is probably a low light tank, I run the lights 12-14 hours with no algae issues. Been doing so for a long time now.
