How often do you clean your Filter? Do you alternate if you have multiple filters?

I have 2 filters on a 40 gallon.

1 canister, and 1 power/hang-on filter?

can I clean them both at the same time?
Or do you recommend alternating each week?

I clean the media everytime i do a water change and i completely dismantle the filter and clean everything once a month to a month and a half.

IME I have all HOB filters, one in a betta tank and two in the main tank. One is an Aquaclear, another Aquaeon and the final a Marineland. The Marineland doesn't really need any work on it but the filter cartrdiges clog up pretty quick so I clean those every week. The Aquaclear and Aquaeon are cleaned every one to two months.
