I have a fluval power filter 40-70 us gal what do u guys think about it and is 300gph good for it

It is probably close to adequate, depending on how you stock it and with what.

Maybe add on a small unit, like an AC20 or tetra whisper 20. That way, if you want to quarantine your fish you can just stick the extra filter on the other tank for QT, then switch it back once the fish are done QTing.

I personally would just add another of the same exact filter but you could just add a smaller filter. I personally like dual filters of the same type.

+1 I do as well. It helps because if one bites the dust then you still habe one the same size to help keep up. It doesn't work that way if you have a big one and a small one. What happens if only your big one bites the dust? Then your stuck with a small one until you have funds for another big one but even then I definetly understand not wanting to spend too much.
