Is a heater necessary?

Is a heater necessary for the following fish: Neon Tetra, Glo Fish, Otos, and Mystery Snails?

Almost all fish except cold water fish should have a heater. Some treatments for sick fish are heat only so its a good idea to get one. Even if you live in a warm climate it still may be useful at times

So I should get one right? I've also heard that it can speed up the cycling process...

Yes you should get one to stabilize the temp in your tank, also when you do water changes the temp can drop.

ok. that was helpful. And for the fish, what temp. should it be?

68-75 degrees F

Normally aim for 70- 72
