I decided that i'm gonna go with a planted tank. :flowers:

My hood came with incandescent light bulbs, but I've read that a 15 watt fluorescent bulbs will work better with the plants I want to get. I'm also worried about how much heat they'll generate...

Would any regular 15 watt fluorescent bulb from Home Depot work or...?

Plant I'm planning to get is a java fern.

Congrats on your decision to go planted :)

You should get the CFL bulbs that say "full spectrum daylight" on them. Generally you want the color (indicated in K for Kelvins) temperature to be anywhere between 6,500K to 10,000K.

Java Fern is a great low light tolerant sturdy plant. You can also keep Anubias, Crypts, and Sword plants in similar conditions.

What size tank?

Ha. Thank you. And it's a 10 gallon. It's still in the midst of cycling but i'm planning to put a betta in it :)

Where would I be able to get those bulbs?
