My question is it better to have a long or short hose for either inlet or outlet. I wanna have a good strong flow/ current for my silver arowana.

So I'm currently having a long 3/4 pvc connect to my inlet (let's say maybe 7.5ft) but my outlet is short maybe 2 or 3 feet. Is that fine?

Keep hoses as short as possible, with a little slack.

If its a question of positioning the filter causing one hose to be longer than the other its better to have the intake as the longer one as it works on gravity so shortening the length is less important on that one.

The hoses on my canister go directly from the back of my tank straight down about 22 inches to the valves. IMO the shorter the better.

As Aiken said. Longer runs on the intake to the canister is better if one need to longer. Always keep the output line as short and straight as possible.
