Thanks to Eco23's fishless cycling guide I just finished a textbook cycle on a lightly planted 5 gal
and moved my little betta (Jonah) into his new home.
He seems pretty pleased, if slightly confused by all the sudden real estate.
To clarify on the plants: couple of small anubias, a java fern, and a water sprite that is not looking like it's going to make it - also considering some moss to help with nitrate absorption.
My question is: will he alone generate enough waste to keep the bio cycle running or should I consider adding an additional occupant or two?
I'm cautiously optimistic about a snails chance in there with him (he's... feisty), but I've sadly written off shrimps. I think they'd just end up as dinner.
Appreciate any and all advice!
