my first planted tank !! :) i need help lol

im going to move my betta in my 10 gallon tank that i just got sunday,, i have flourite for a substrate and sum hornwort for my first plant aaaand they have a desent amount of brown on them, and also i dont have the heater on yet because my mom said that were just going to put the heater that was on the bettas old tank on the new one, but i cant take it off now because then the betta will die i need help lol and im trying to cycle the tank but i dont really know how to, i mean i research and research but its not really that much help lol
and i would post a picture of it but i dont know how on this website
