Need advice on guppies please

Hey all... So i have a 13 gallon established red cherry shrimp tank. TONS of shrimp. I'm thinking of adding a few guppies for some diversity. I have four small (but growing quickly) piranhas in another tank and want to use the shrimp and guppies as supplemental feeders. Looking today at my LFS, different types of fancy males are available, but only one tank of females. So i guess my question is this? Are there different types of 'fancy' females? Or are the females kind of generic and the males just pass on their traits? Thanks for your help!

There actually are fancy females. Some are very similar to the males. The only problem is finding the fancy females. Many stores don't have many of them because they go quick!!
