Hey guys, just got a 75 gallon fish tank that I let cycle, with sand and a few plants thus far. The only fish I have in there now is a peacock eel but I think he may be sick. Im really tending to him and I have talked to my local pet store about it but thats a different story. So my question is, what are some cool fish that you all would suggest to fill my tank? Im not big on schools of fish, a pair or maybe 3 or 4 of a certain kind is fine, but I like interesting and different fish. So help me out guys!! I plan on buying my next fish in about 2 weeks so I wanna make sure I know what I want before start buying. Thanks everyone.

Hmm, well, I love my peacock eel, and I would rather not have a bristlenose because of their mess and size they get too. Im prolly gonna end up getting a gold alge eater. Other than that I really like variety. I love ghost knifes but im not gonna get one because it will eventually eat my other fish. Just seeing if there are any oddball fish out there I could put with some chichlids likes rams and maybe even some gouramis. But I would go with african chichlids and other fish they could go with as long as my peacock eel would be safe.

I don't think Africans would work...I think they are more aggressive! You could however go with dwarf cichlids...and bristlenoses only get to 4" or so, don't they?

What's wrong with the peacock eel?

Have you googled oddball fish? I know liveaquaria has a section for them.

I would get your peacock eel if thats what you like a bristlenose pleco max size 5 inches great algae eater a pair of angels around 4 or 5 silver dollars and a lot of corys as clean up crew like 10 and possibly a school of gold barbs. If you want aggressive a pair of jacks would be nice with a bristlenose pleco.

If you already have a peacock eel you could get a pair of angels and 4 silverdollars then i would do a bristlenose pleco max size 5 inches great algae eater and for the bottom with peacock eel you could get a single red tail black shark a very intresting fish. For a more aggressive set up you could get a pair of jacks with the bristlenose plecoand eel. Or you could get a single tiger oscar 1 bristlenose pleco and the eel.

A BN pleco would be a much better choice IMO than a golden algae eater. These are a color variant of the chinese algae eater. They grow fairly large, don't eat all that much algae, and have a tendency to get aggressive with age.
