Hello!

New user, long time lurker.. Just setup my 60 Gallon about ~13 days ago, been doing a fishless cycle (10% pure ammonia 'Ace Hardware'), 4ppm of Ammonia on the first batch, 2ppm each time it gets to .5-1.0ppm.

My cycle seems to be doing the opposite of what is normal (from what I have read). I am clearing ammonia quickly, but through the whole process I never get any Nitrite (except in the beginning ~4-5days, ~.25ppm just enough to kinda turn it purple 'api test').

Now I am only getting Nitrate >30ppm and growing. Could this TSS+ and Smart Start actually have planted enough Nitrate bacteria to prevent me from ever seeing the Nitrite spike? Or is this normal?

Thanks!

It's not common, but it sometimes happens when you are cycling a tank.

Ok, so once I can clear ammonia in 24hrs, do you think it would be safe to migrate my fish from the 20 Gallon to the new tank? Even though I never saw the nitrite spike?

Thanks
