Hello, I've been away from fish keeping for several years and now that I am no longer moving around and/or living in apartments it is time for me to fire up one of my favorite hobbies again.
I have $1500 to spend on an aquarium setup. What would you do?
I am interested in having a planted tank with CO2 and LED lighting along with keeping all the equipment in a sump. I want to DIY the sump and a little sump stand beside the tank.
I have an old 40Gallon breeder from aqueon sitting around so I'll probably drill that for an external overflow box to feed the sump. Getting a bigger tank is off the table - not for budgetary reasons but 40 gallons is about as big as my wife will allow and that I have space for in the home office (once she see's how great a well-maintained fish tank looks, it'll butter her up for a much bigger display tank elsewhere ).
