I am thinking about a second tank. my first is very flexible as a community tank. I was thinking of either cichlids or pirahna. I know there is a lot of discussion about cichlids but I don't see any general pitfall advice on getting started. I also want to know if anyone has pirahna. Would you recommend them?

I've had a female Jaguar Cichlid for the past 2 years and she has got to be one of the most aggressive fish I've ever known. She has so much personality that one friend has nicknamed her "Tony Soprano"

Pirahna are not a great idea unless your new tank is going to be HUGH - 150G +. Ditto for Red Bellied Pacu.
You can go to http://www.cichlid-forum.com to get info about different types of cichlids - again, most require a larger tank and there are compatibility issues, so you really need to do your research first. Lots of great info on that site.

Central American Cichlids are my recommendation. I second the advice to go to www.cichlid-forum.com, look at the new world genus gallery. What size tank do you have in mind? A lot of you options depend on tank size.
