Platys what kind do i have and where should they be?

Hi

I have two variatus Platys at the moment they are in a coldwater tank with 5minnows and 5 danios. Are my platys meant to be in Coldwater or heated? or is there a tropical species of Platy that is different from my platys?

Platys are tropical and should be kept in a tropical tank which is heated to about 78

Ok I have them in a tank with 5 minnows and 5 danios are they ok with that temperature or should I go lower as I heard minnows like cooler temperatures do you know which would be a happy medium for all fish. They are in a 22.4gallon tank and I am stocked now and don't intend to get anymore fish for this tank. I was told I could bring minnows and danio schools up to 6-7 each but I think id rather slightly understock.
