Refugium

i was thinking of replacing one of my hob filters with a hob refugium i have a 55 gallon with 2 hob filter right now would the refugium be a good substitute for one of the filter?

Refugiums are really only useful for a saltwater tank for establishing a population of organisms for fish food and the growth of macro algae. For a freshwater tank I would just stick with running the filters as a standard filter.
