My 2 golden rams are terribly shy. They almost never come out to be seen and rush back very quickly. They must be eating my shrimp because I never see them eat anything else.

If I bought a couple more, would they be more inclined to come out and say hello? They are in a tank with a couple gouramis and some danios.

Speaking of the danios, two jumped out of the tank last night and died. Didn't realise they were jumpers.

Oh yeah.. They love to jump.
Mine are constently jumping and hitting the hood. Sneaky lil' fishies.
As for shy Rams, sorry I can't help

Rams tend to be a shy fish. Try getting more smaller danio/neon tetra type fish to act as 'dither' fish--seeing these swim around will give the rams more confidence that it is safe to swim around freely. Also how much cover is in your tank? Rams prefer a lot of dense vegetation as well as small caves to hide in. Provide all these and it should reduce their shyness. My rams were always very social, but my tank looked like a jungle and they were accompanied by about 20 varios tetras
