Should I kill all the snails that come on plants? I don't know what kind of snails they are, and if they are the bad type, I want to get on top of the situation before they multiply!

Snails will only overpopulate your tank if you are overfeeding. Keep you tank in balance and snails are a friend.

They are probably pond snails. As said above don't over feed and they will stay under control. They will clean up left over food and dead plant plant matter and are a good indicator of how well you are feeding the tank.
