Well the rubberlip pleco is way too big for a 29 gal. I'd choose one that isn't going to grow much more than 4" max, where as the rubberlip will reach 10". Also the gourami is the only pick that's going to be in the top half of the tank, so I think you could possibly add something else that swims around the top more. The ram is going to hang on the bottom, the cories are going to zip around the bottom, and the tetras are going to school in the bottom half. :)

i thought the tetras would be in the middle and idk but everybody has said the rubberlip pleco would go. if the tetras arent in the middle do you have any good larger schooling fish for the middle or top

revised list:
8-mosquito rasbora,
1-dwarf gourami,
1-bolivian ram,
1-bristelnose pleco,
6-ghost shrimp,
8-juli corys
aqadvisor approved;i think it'll work better with the mosquito and dwarf gourami in the top half and everythng else in the bottom half.

Hmm, can't make sense of that..I can't think of any 10" fish that works in a 29 gal.

Yeah I'd say middle is accurate for the tetras. BN pleco's would be a better choice size wise, if you like them. I'm not sure about the mosquito rasbora..I don't have enough experience with rams to say if I would trust them fish that small. You could do for example harlequin rasbora or guppies.

If you are going to do the mosquito, they are so tiny you will want more than 6 so you can really see them. I'm stocking a school of 12 in my 14 gal, as example.

Ah I see. I thought they could be a bit aggresive at times. Sounds like a great list. I'm trying to get my hands on some green fire tetra myself.

hate trying to stock a new tank!

i always have in my mind how i want it and then it doesnt work so i need a little help. so i have a 29 gallon and three residents are not changeable a pair of apistos, a Rio-Negro pleco, and 6 juli corys but from then i cant decide. i want a schooling fish like white skirts for the middle (something plain but still a contrast), and a school of something beautiful for the top like dwarf rainbows, endler's livebearers, or killifish. plz help!

Rummynose would be a great replacement for the white skirts! They don't swim up top though. Either do killifish.

Celestial pearl danios I think are a bit small to keep with the larger more aggresive white skirts.

A paradise fish is a large centerpeice fish. Personally I wouldn't put them in less than a 55. If you did, it would definitely replace your apistos.

I don't know that specific rasbora, but being that the description says it has a difficult care level and is recommended for a "specialist", I would avoid it.

Praecox I don't know much about but IMO it's too large to have a group of. I don't really think it's a top swimmer either, but because I know little about them I can't say for sure.

Ah then I would think you could do the rummynose for the mid-bottom schoolers and the celestial pearls for the top-mid :)
