sump and pleco

Hi I have been keeping saltwater fish for about 4 years now but due to time constraints I am struggling with the maintenance. So I am going to move my turtles from their smaller tank into my 4foot by 2 foot by 2 foot tank (know this isn't right area about turtles but questions seemed more suitable here). I will have a sump set up on the tank and was wondering with freshwater if there were many plants I could grow in there without light or if light was needed. I also want to add a pleco. I know these need wood but can I be any kind or not? Any general tips also welcome

how big of a sump are we talking, are you putting the pleco in the sump?

Sorry wrote a response straight away but must not have clicked send. No pleco in the main tank and about 25 gallons I believe. It's 4 foot by 18inchs but not all full due to design of sumps
