Switching to sand, switching to holey rock
Ok I just have some black and white gravel in there now looking to switch to sand found a thirty pound bag of just white sand for like 20$ I have a 35gal hex tank I have five African cichlids walmart deals and I think two are trying to mate I've got slate all around in there for caves and hide outs and I also have a small blue crayfish. I have no idea how to go about the sand and cleaning it if anyone knows where I can get another sand or better colors that'd help as well. And I've found a website that has decent holey rock for decent prices I seem to win every eBay bid I throw in but last second someone bids fifty cent...  how do I clean it and it'd be fine for holey and slate? This is more of a temporary tank until I can get rid of it and go BIGGER!  also I have just a aquatech or walmart brand filter if there's something better also let me know.
