I see that these kits are as low as $169.00. Any experience as whether they are worth buying?

I just bought a 30 gallon from Walmart for my son so i could move my freshwater fish to turn my 90 gallon into a saltwater tank. The tank is fine the lighting is also good. The filter seems a little undersized but in all it works. I don't know how long it will all hold up but you could always buy better equipment down the road. Just my opinion but it's a good start.

Petco often has dollar per gallon sales. That's $55 for the tank. Another $100 for a proper filter for that sized tank (canister). I don't care for tetra filters. Have you tried Craigslist? Many times you can find used tanks and equipment for a bargain. So yeah the kit is cheap but to me not worth it because I would upgrade anyway.
