Typically they are the wrong bacteria. Some people have reported success with tetra safestart or dr Tim one and only, but for every person that has it work, there is 1 or more that don't...

I've heard mixed stories about nite-out since it actually contains nitrospira but also has nitrobacter which seems to be commonly accepted as being wrong now, so I don't know how well it would work with the two bacteria competing with each other
