Like most people in this hobby, I started out with a 57l freshwater tropical tanks and quickly decided I needed to upgrade ?
I recently purchased a 90l Fluval Roma second hand. It comes with a Fluval U3 filter which has two still wet sponges inside. They’re huge compared to my current Ciano CF80.
I do not have the space to fully set the new tank up I.e I’ll need to swap it straight out once it’s ready.
My question is, can I ‘float’ the new U3 sponges in my current established tank for them to develop bacteria? They’re too big for my current filter filter and my current filter sponge will be lost in the U3!
Note - I’m giving myself a couple of months to clean, fix up and scape the Roma so won’t be moving the fish over anytime soon.
TIA!
