I recently came across a 10 gallon tank at a yard sale, but have no idea what to turn it into. I have a 20 tall and a 5gal hex, both planted as seen here:

I've only thought of two ideas so far; a sand substrate for some dwarf corys, or a betta tank. Feel free to build off those ideas or suggest your own. I just can't think of anything good. The lighting will be from two 10W compact flourescent screw-in bulbs.

DWARF PUFFERS !!!! I just did that to my 10G and I'm absolutely in love with them. You could do 3 DPs in a 10G. You could also have 3 otos (the only known "safe" tankmates for DPs). DPs are the most curious little dudes and quite interesting. They "schooled" for about 4 days then started to establish their own territories. Within a few days they also learned to recognize the eye dropper that I use to feed them their bloodworms, now they all come rushing over as soon as they see the dropper. They're actually eating directly from it now - which is good as it allows me to make sure everyone gets his/her fair share.
They do like a heavily planted tank, which is also great fun to set up. You may need to get stronger bulbs, but thats fairly simple. Here's a pic of my 10G to give you an indea

Nice idea! I was also thinking of a mudskipper tank.... though I've never had to deal with brackish water before.

Oh thats a NEAT idea - but I have to wonder if a 10G will be big enough. I'm trying to do some research myself now - what a cool tank for one of my 20 Gallon Longs that I'll be setting up next month !
I found these pics and just had to share - that last photo is a riot

I think as long as I set up two different islands, I can house two mudskippers in the 10 gallon. I just have to make sure I get a species that stays small.

From whatever research I've been able to do today there are species that range from 4 - 8 inches that are suitable for an aquarium. However, I did see a recommended minimum tank size of 30G for 2 of the 8" species (I think they were African's - I guess senior moments are contagious because I'm catching them from the retiree's in Florida LOL - it CAN"T be MY mind that's going !! LOL).
I'm still researching since I'm now toying with the idea of doing this in one of the 20 longs I have .... the other thing I can't figure out is where to buy them ! LOL
