Wanting to start, but how?!?

Hello!!


I have been reading some of the stuff in the forum but could someone more experienced give me a short version of what do I need to buy first?
So... we start with the water cycling right? What do I need for that? I have the aquarium (that used to be from gerbils) but need everything else.
My aquarium is around 100cm x 40cm. What sort of stuff do I need?

I'm not in a rush and want to do this right.

Welcome to AA! Start by reading some of the articles and stickies in the freshwater forum. They will give you a lot of insight on how to set a tank up and what equipment you might need.

Also, make sure you disenfect the tank before you add the water. Don't want gerbil junk in there lol!

Definitely go with a fishless cycle. I'd recommend the Ace Hardware brand ammonia and follow the instructions in the article posted on this site for fishless cycling. Works like a charm.
