My house functions off of a well and I was wondering if any extra precautions must be taken while treating and cycling a new aquarium

nope. If it's your drinking water than it should be totally fine. You can still use water conditioners because this will still help with heavy metals in your water even though there isn't chlorine.

I agree with Tamtam as well on the water conditioner to detox heavy metals. Also, make sure you test your water for ammonia, nitrite & nitrate so you know what the baseline for your tank is. Some people with well water have an excess amount of nitrates due to fertilizer run-off, etc.
