What is my fish?

Hi,

I was sold this fish as a Platy, when I got home however I realised it looks different in shape and size to all my other 5 platys? Click image for larger version

It looks like one to me. I know some different breeds can have different looks. Are your other the same breed as this one?

That appears to be a variatus platy which is a variant of the standard platy. They tend to have differences in scaling pattens and are known to be a little more tolerant of cold water however for all intents and purposes, they are the same fish as a standard platy.

Once upon a time, platys were one of the fish that first got me into the hobby. Even though they are common, they are beautiful and fun. Yours look great. Makes me want to setup a tank for some Platys again.
