What should I do?

I recently did a complete aqua scape on my 30 gal. I wanted to get some dwarf neon rainbows but I just am having a hard time finding them. I've also thought about just doing a species only neon tetra tank. My only concern with that is, is that just to ordinary? What do you guys think? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want good color but not cichlids or any other aggressive fish.

Oh and depending on what you guys think I wanted to get some sort of shrimp maybe.

A large single school of neons is always a beautiful sight, particularly in planted tanks. Better yet you could get cardinal tetras as they are a bit bigger, generally hardier and a little more colorful. I know you said species tank but a breeding pair of German blue rams or apistogramma would be right at home with those cardinals too.

If I got a breeding pair of apistos how many tetras could I have?

I'd probably aim for around 12-15 or so if you're not getting anything else.

Guppies are colorful and fun to watch, you could do those and tetras
