What Type of Catfish is This?

I have had this catfish since it was about 3 inches long and now he is over 8 inches long. I want to know what type he is. The pet store said red tail but I know he isn't. Any help?

Looks like a redtail x tiger shovelnose hybrid, and it will grow much larger.

I looked up common catfish and didn't find any. Are these hybrids common? I haven't seen any others.

I've seen them in pet shops a few times, not too common. Check out the monsterfishkeepers forum, should be more folks with personal experience on there,
