White funky stuff on drift wood

I'm guessing bacteria of some kind ???? Not a lot of it but it goes along some of the grain on the wood.

Will this help in the cycling you think?

I'm on my eighth day of cycling and my Amonnia is around 3.-4. Nitrite still 0.

like a whitish snot? thats just fungi, no worries, it will go away on its own or with help from the fish.

it happens some time with new wood. you can always take it out and scrub it off if worried.
