Are fish illnesses inter-species?

I thought of converting my 10g to a shrimp tank and moving my clown to my 55g tank. But I was also considering making that 10g a hospital tank. My question is, if I have a sick fish (ich, fin rot, fungus), are my shrimps vulnerable to i as well? Or do those sicknesses affect fish only?

It depends which illness, but a big problem with this would be treating the fish. Most fish medications are toxic to shrimp, so it would defeat half the purpose of maintaining a quarantine/hospital tank.
