Candy Cane Neon

I watched my Candy Cane Neon coral release some brown contents today. I suppose it was just waste material. Am I correct? I've never had coral before so forgive me if this is a stupid question, obvious occurrences pertaining to coral elude me. Here's a link to video

The reason I ask is because they are normally inactive during the day. I've never seen them do this either.
