Damselfish 911

i have 2 damselfish i was using to help cycle my tank. one of the damsels is laying on its side on the bottom of the tank and its gills and mouth are moving real fast. i checked everything in the tank and it seemed alright, atleast for cycling process. i added some stress coat and the fish immediately got up off its side and swam for about 5 min then laid back down. any advice on how i can save him?

What happened to your damsel? Mine is doing about the same thing and I am worried he isn't going to make it.

Too late. He was dead when I went home. I think maybe I had too many fish.

I think maybe you should have not used a fish to cycle your tank.

Please do yourselves a favor and the poor fish one also and do a fishless cycle. your fish are suffering from ammonia poisoning from the cycle. Click on articles and click on fishless cycle. Thanks
