I have seen a few posts saying they have "dead coral" and LR. or just dead coral. What is it? I mean, I know it's dead coral but what does it look like? Who has it for sale that I can see a pic? Does it perform a specific function in a tank? Thanks for your input.

It is normally just the skeleton from a dead coral. It performs no specific function, however it will seed from the live rock and provide bacteria the same as lr does. Beware of bleached or dyed dead coral as some of them will release toxic chemicals into your tank. Using them in tanks is also very contriversial because in some places they pick live coral off the reef, kill it, dry it and sell it as decorations.
