hypo time

Well, I just passed 4 weeks of hypo treatment, actually 4 weeks and 3 days. All of my fish have been clean since the 3rd day of treatment.
I have read that some suggest up to 6 weeks of treatment. I feel that they are clean, but anyone feel that the time should be longer for this treatment?
I still have 3 weeks of fallow time and observation time. My plan is to start raising the spg by .002 per day.
Opinions? TIA

QS,

I'm coming up right behind you, I'll be at 4 weeks on Sunday. I'm thinking about putting mine back in the tank, the problem I'm having is now a pod explosion with nothing to keep them in check they are all over the glass. My fish have been clean since the 3rd or 4th day also.

Excellent Gerald!! I hope the fish gods shine upon us, we have earned it.
Good luck, I am keeping mine out for the 8 weeks, taking no chances.
As for the pods, think about the feast you fish will have.

Lucky...My Ich never cleared up...even after 3 months of hypo. I started to raise my SG up and going to see if their immune system can hold up...I really hope it does.

I don't think it's ick then. Could be but I'm not sure.

100% positive it is Ich. 1.009 w/ a refractometer and spots are still on the fish today...their immune system seems to hold up...but I fear one day they will die from all the stress from these darn parasites.

Or if treating in a qt tank. Raise the spg and do a Cupramine treatment. This may be one of those resistant strains.

I think you may need copper, perhaps after you raise the salinity to normal.
You may have unfortunately encountered the rare low salinity ich variant. I think at this point you have no choice but to take the risks associated with copper. Cupramine is said to be fairly gentle. And hey, at least your main tank will be parasite free from being fallow so long.
