If its looking brownish-whiteish, it's starting to bleach.
I noticed this on one of my Red Montis last week. Apparently mine was getting too much direct flow because after repositioning one of my returns, it looks like it is healing nicely. Possibly too much flow?

May be too much flow or too much light cus this began after i placed him a little higher in the tank
