Can you be more specific as to what kind of urchin and how the tank is? Is the discharge white? If so, I think you have a boy on your hands...

I'd expect this every so many months in all honesty. The whole tank will cloud up sometimes. Running carbon on the system might be helpful to clear it up faster.
