I noticed that every night when my six line wrasse goes to sleep it forms a mucous membrane looking bubble around himself.

Does anyone know what this is?

That's his sleep cocoon. Wrasses do this at night to keep predators of of'm while they sleep. They can see out of it too. I had one that would break his and come out when food was offered.

Have ya seen him seemingly blow something (sand or rock dust)? That's what he's doing. Making his bubble and going nighty night.
