Tail and fin rot question

I just had 2 clownfish that have passed due to, what is suspected to be, tail and fin rot. Should I do a water change in the tank or should I be ok? Does it linger in the tank?

It shouldn't linger, but water changes should be necessary. Illness and disease in fish are in direct correlation of parameter issues/shock in our systems.
