What filtration to run during Copper treatment?

I know I have to remove activated carbon fromt he filter and turn off the protein skimmer, but can i leave the filter pad in my canister or will it remove copper too?

I can't figure out if it would be better to shut everything down and treat with copper or not. The only other filtration I have is an airpump and bubble wand.

I keep running my canister filter with no absorbent media like carbon or resins. Cotton pads or regular filter pads will no affect the medicine t all. I would shut off the skimmer or uv if you have one since they do affect the copper strength.

Depends on the form of copper used. Ionic copper will destroy bacterial filteration completely while chelates are less damaging, they still take a greater toll. Cupramine is typically the least invasive on the biofilter. It will supress the reproduction of bacteria for a short time but it should rebound fairly quickly.
