What is this on my monti

I've read everything from bleaching to pests and even a sign of growth which is good. What's your opinion?

I believe that to be a sign of growth, but it's kinda strange. It doesn't look like it's right at the edge?

I know.
I had white right along the edge before when it was growing but this is a little different. Will have to keep an eye on it

That isn't what growth looks like. First, try to blow it off as it looks like sand.

Looks like tissue recession to me. Definitely not growth. Growth is only on the edges of the coral. That looks like flesh died off

Something touching or rubbing it, sand on it, or even a powerhead blowing on it is one reason.
