I got a toadstool from a guy on craigslist the other day (3 days ago) and it still hasnt opened? When should I expect it to? Params are all good and in check.

DAY1:

DAY2:

DAY3:

first parameters all good and fine dont work here
actual numbers work better
leathers sometimes need time,
ive seen them take from a day to six months to open its about flow lighting parameters ect

Seaweed is correct, specifics are always needed. It will open when its happy, you also may have to move it to another spot in your tank to make it happy because of light or water flow! Good luck with it but be patient

It is just restoring its top layer. You might see some peeling. It will open up. Just give it some time. Toadstools don't like to be touched.

okay its a week now and I havent seen too much improvement but I will keep my hopes and patience up! Someone told me it might actually be a Fiji Leather?

Mine stayed close for a couple of weeks.

2 Weeks: Still a little improvement, not too much. Im beginning to wonder if I should move it away from the lights?

still waiting for #'s for parameters saying good don't help us help you

Nitrite
Nitrate
Ammonia
PH
Alk
Phosphate
Salinity
if some of these parameters are off it can be the issue
how old is your tank
do you run a skimmer
tank size
What type of light you have make model
was it acclimated to light when you introduced it to the tank
where is your toadstool located in your tank top, middle , bottom
how much flow is it getting high , med , low
are you using tap water or ro/di
we ask these questions to learn about your tank as we are not there
knowing this info helps us to try to help you to pinpoint the issue

Ammonia~0
Nitrite~0
Nitrate~0
PH~8.4
Alk~8.0
Phos~0.02
Salinity~1.025
Calcium~460
Tank is 4 months old
No skimmer~10% weekly water changes
Refugium with bio balls/filter media/Chaeto/Feather Caulerpa that is double filtered through a HOB filter
Coral Life 260W compact fluorescents/10000K/Actinics
55G
Leather is located mid-high tank
Leather receives high-moderate flow
RO/DI water is used

It was drip acclimated for about and hour and a half with some light from the tank
Hopefully this helps!

try lowering the flow to a med flow sounds like it getting blasted
see if that helps give it day or so , if nothing changes next try lowering him a little he's probably attached to rock now so move that rock avoid touching the leather to lessen any stress
parameters look good
If I were you I'd 86 the bio balls and add lr rubble but thats your choice
they cause more problems than good (nitrate trap)

Lowered the flow spot + elevation and it seems to be responding to it MUCH better!
