I recently put a silver dollar-sized Yellow Tang into my QT. On occasion I have noticed a dark spot "inside" that is centered front-to-back, and slightly above the middle of the fish. At first I thought it was the result of the seaweed it eats, but I also noticed it just before a feeding. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

IS there any way to take a photo? Is this spot on only 1 side of the fish or on both sides?

Is it a brown coloration? My tangs at night turn brown down near the belly.

My yellow tang has that stripe as well.
White with brown below it.
It shows up when you turn the lights out, and then fades when the lights come back on.
From what I have read on here and anywhere else, its natural.

Both sides, as though inside the fish.

Check the link below and see if that's what your "spot" resembles. The white stripe (caudal spine) is actaully part of the anatomy and conected to the tail spike.

It does the the white stripe down the side as well. Thanks for the link.

Thanks to all for the input,
